THE FIRST MUSIC VIDEO CREATED WITH OPENAI’S UNRELEASED ‘SORA’ TEXT-TO-VIDEO TECHNOLOGY SURFACES
In an exciting development, writer/director Paul Trillo has unveiled what is being hailed as the 'first official music video made with OpenAI's Sora,' an unreleased AI model from the tech giant. The visually stunning 4-minute video, created for indie chillwave band Washed Out's new single 'The Hardest Part,' features a series of connected, quick zoom shots through various scenes, seamlessly stitched together to create the illusion of a continuous zoom.
Trillo first conceived the idea for the video a decade ago but abandoned the project. He recently shared that the video was made from 55 separate clips generated by Sora from a pool of 700 total, and was edited together using Adobe Premiere. OpenAI's groundbreaking AI model, Sora, has left a significant impact on the tech community and beyond, generating buzz among media, arts, and even raising some controversy among traditional videographers and artists.
In February 2024, OpenAI announced that Sora would be made available to a select group of 'red teamers' and 'visual artists, designers, and filmmakers' for assessment. Although the technology remains unreleased to the public, some early access users have already started creating projects with it.
The release of this music video marks a significant milestone in the integration of AI technology in the creative arts. As the industry continues to explore the possibilities of generative AI, it will be interesting to see how this technology evolves and shapes the future of visual storytelling.
